Context
The project New South is the international competition entry of POLO, WIT & RUA for the last possible extension of the inner city of Antwerp on a former railway yard along the River Scheldt. New South is developed as a mixed-use but predominantly residential quarter.


Emphasis on Topography and Water Management
The project emphasizes the role of topography and water management for the achievement of a sustainable and ecological neighborhood.

Oversizing of Public Spaces and Landscapes
Through the oversizing of public spaces and landscapes in the design, New South acquires a flexible character that contributes highly to its robustness and resilience.
